Kelp is a large, leafy seaweed belonging to the brown algae family. They grow in ‘forests’ in the colder waters of the world’s oceans. It grows quickly and can grow up to half a meter a day. It spreads over large areas and can grow up to 50 meters high. Kelp has been used since ancient times as an important nutritious ingredient in Korean, Japanese and Chinese cuisines.
Kelp is rich in minerals and is considered one of the most mineral-rich foods available. It is rich in iodine, phosphorus, copper, calcium, sodium, zinc, vitamins A, B, C and E, among others.
