NAD+ 300 mg 60 capsules – Holistic Health
NAD+ contains nicotinamide riboside, which is a form of niacin. In the tissues, it is converted into the coenzyme NAD+.
NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found inside cells, where it is formed from the niacin form of nicotinamide riboside found in this supplement.
It has gained attention recently because it seems to have the same effect on ageing as calorie restriction. It has been shown to have a positive effect on cellular metabolism. Studies in rats show that it can protect against Alzheimer’s and keep the brain healthy for longer. Other studies show that it is beneficial for the brain, probably by boosting energy production in the heart’s mitochondria, which is relevant because the heart consumes so much energy. A landmark study published in the journal Science showed that NAD+ could significantly improve muscle function in aging mice.

NAD+ can also be formed from other forms of niacin. However, it cannot be taken up by cells in its finished form, but must be synthesized into NAD+ inside them. The form found in Whole Health’s NAD+ has been shown to be effective in increasing the body’s NAD+ levels. Whole Health states: “If you take supplements of ready-made NAD or NADH, they are first broken down into niacin in the gut and then converted in the cells to NAD+ again. Therefore, nicotinamide riboside, found in this product, is a more effective and affordable supplement than taking the coenzyme in finished form.”
