Moringa powder – Mother Earth EKO 150g
The moringa tree is a versatile plant that has been used for thousands of years and has roots in northwest India. It is considered to have many positive effects on health, read more below!
Moringa powder is made from the leaves of the tree. They are dried at a low temperature and then finely ground before being filtered.
There are many ways to use moringa, such as adding the powder to smoothies, tea or cooking. It can also be used as a food supplement in capsule form.
Moringa is not very well known, so we have collected some of the positive effects on health that moringa is considered to have:
Contains powerful antioxidants
The Moringa plant contains a rich blend of powerful antioxidants such as kaempferol, caffeoylquinic acid, zeatin, quercetin, rutin, chlorogenic acid and beta-sitosterol.
Stable blood sugar levels
Research studies show that moringa helps manage blood sugar levels in test subjects with diabetes. Intake of moringa extract has shown improvement in hemoglobin levels and total protein content in subjects. A review published in the journal Frontiers in Pharmacology shows that the leaves may be effective in treating chronic hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia (high blood fat levels).
Heart and Vascular
Moringa is effective in maintaining optimal levels of blood pressure and cholesterol levels in the body. Bioactive substances such as isothiocyanate and niaziminine prevent thickening of arteries and reduce the development of pulmonary hypertension by dilating blood vessels.
Helps with edema
Moringa extract is interesting in the treatment of edema. Several research studies have confirmed that treatment with the extract, which has anti-inflammatory properties, has been able to inhibit the development of edema. Studies show that the effect is equivalent to the potent anti-inflammatory drug indomethacin in the treatment of such painful conditions.
Protects the liver
Moringa extract exerts a hepatoprotective effect on the liver. According to a study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food, moringa leaves are effective against liver damage and speed up the recovery process. It also helps to restore the balance of the immune system and prevents radiation-induced effects (as demonstrated in animal experiments). The protective effect is attributed to phytochemicals such as catechin, epicatechin, ferulic acid and vitamin C in moringa.
Relieves stomach upset
The isothiocyanates found in moringa are effective in treating stomach upsets such as constipation, gastritis and ulcerative colitis. Research has shown that moringa extract can be a herbal alternative to a range of commercially available antacids and antihistamines.
According to a study published in the journal Phytomedicine, treatment with moringa extract for ulcerative colitis is comparable to the commercially available drug prednisolone. It has antibiotic and antibacterial properties and exerts inhibitory effects on the growth of various pathogens, including helicobacter pylori and coliform bacteria (associated with peptic ulcer disease).
Skin and hair care
Moringa seed oil is traditionally used in India in particular for skin and hair and is effective against infection caused by the herpes simplex virus. It is believed to protect hair from environmental damage, including ultraviolet radiation. It acts as a valuable conditioner for the scalp, strengthens the roots and also stimulates hair growth according to tradition.
Moringa extract is considered in India and Southeast Asia to protect the skin, prevent wrinkles and slow down aging. Therefore, it is also used in cosmetics and skin care products.
Antibacterial agent
Moringa has antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial properties. Scientific research has shown that moringa extracts exert a broad spectrum of protective activity against foodborne microorganisms such as Salmonella, Rhizopus species, E. Coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. The leaves also have antifungal properties.
Neurodegenerative diseases
Research studies have shown that moringa can potentially protect the brain, improve the release of substances such as noradrenaline, serotonin and dopamine, and may provide protection against Alzheimer’s disease.
The bone marrow
Moringa extract is good for maintaining healthy bones, partly because it contains important minerals such as calcium and phosphorus. Moringa has even been shown to improve the effectiveness and bioavailability of these minerals. The extracts have anti-inflammatory properties and are effective in relieving inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.
The immune system
Moringa leaf extract may help stimulate the body’s immune system. Research has shown that it also helps improve the cellular immune response and exerts positive effects on various other immune system markers such as total leukocyte count, antibodies and hypersensitivity reactions.
Relieves asthma
Moringa extract has been shown to help relieve bronchial asthma and inflammation of the airways. The extracts of moringa seeds have anti-allergenic properties. Scientific research has validated the inhibitory effect of moringa seeds on overreactions in various allergic diseases, including allergic rhinitis and anaphylaxis. According to research, treatment with moringa helps reduce the severity of asthmatic attacks and various symptoms such as wheezing and coughing by reducing histamine release from mast cells in the immune system.
Kidney stones
Moringa extract may be effective against the formation of stones in the kidneys, bladder and uterus. According to a study in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, Moringa root had anti-urolithic activity and resulted in a significant reduction in urinary oxalate levels. Moringa has also been shown to contribute to a reduction in the formation of stone deposits and helps regulate endogenous oxalate synthesis.
Protects against kidney problems
Moringa extract has a protective effect against nephrotoxicity, the kidney problems caused by exposure to certain drugs or toxins. Studies have shown that the nephroprotective effect of moringa helps to attenuate kidney damage thanks to its high antioxidant content. The kidneys of test subjects treated with moringa showed improvements and signs of healing, perhaps thanks to its ability to inhibit lipid peroxidation. It also acts as an effective bioabsorbent, helping to remove heavy metals and harmful toxins.
Wound healing
Moringa has important wound healing properties thanks to its ability to improve collagen synthesis. Research studies have shown the healing effects of moringa in the treatment of wounds in terms of skin strength, wound healing speed and reduced scarring.
Improves eye health
The antioxidant-rich moringa may help protect against retinal damage. Scientific studies in animal models have provided supportive evidence for moringa’s retinal protective effects. Moringa has been shown to reduce inflammation of the retina in diabetic test subjects. It helps to keep retinal vessels intact. The results suggest that moringa “may be useful in preventing diabetes-induced retinal dysfunction”, as research puts it.
