Buckwheat honey 400gr – Nordic Bee
Buckwheat honey is not as sweet as other honeys. It’s a bit different, smelling a bit like a stable or farm. The taste is quite strong, but a little less sweet.
It contains high levels of antioxidants – up to 30 times more than other honeys! Commonly known as poor man’s manuka. Its antibacterial effect is undisputed. Studies have shown that it works as a cough medicine much more effectively than traditional varieties. Honey with warm milk before bedtime is good for sleep.
Buckwheat is suitable for colder climates, e.g. Nepal, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Russia. It was a common crop in Sweden for more than 500 years. Buckwheat has never been bred, but has remained in its original form and is considered perhaps the most nutritious of crops. It is rich in iron, minerals and vitamins. When bees have access to buckwheat, it is a paradise for them. “Why large-scale buckwheat cultivation is not being pursued is a mystery,” says Nordic Bee.
When buckwheat honey crystallizes, there is nothing to worry about. All honey does this. It happens at different rates, depending on the honey and where and in what temperature it is. Room temperature and darkness are recommended.
A few words about the concept of raw. When slung, honey is liquid. It is strained to remove debris such as wax and pollen. It is then bottled in a jar. In this process, the temperature of the honey is just over 25 degrees. This method is used by more than 70% of Swedish beekeepers.
Unpasteurized honey from lands rich in buckwheat.
